Cognac (FR): Safe gas utilization from vinasse

Exceptional project in south-west France: In the Cognac region, known for its wine and fine brandy, a new FAII 1500V gas flare from Bilgeri Environtec has been ensuring the safe and low-emission utilization of sewage gas and biogas since August 2025. The client is CH4Process S.A.S., and the flare went into operation in August 2025.

FAII 1500V for reliable combustion

The Revico plant in Saint-Laurent-de-Cognac is the largest European recycler of vinasse, a liquid residue from cognac production, which is used in a continuous fermentation process to produce biogas. With an output of 200 to 1,500 Nm³/h, the FAII 1500V ensures reliable combustion and maximum operational safety – even under demanding conditions.

With the FAII 1500V, Bilgeri Environtec is not only supporting the sustainable use of vinasse, but is also helping to drive forward biomethane production in France – a country that is a European leader in green gas production.

The installation in Cognac shows how Bilgeri Environtec combines modern biogas technology with local waste streams to generate sustainable energy. The safe flare combustion reliably controls possible overpressure situations in the gas storage tanks – a decisive factor for operational safety.
